Welcome to the

Counseling Department

Our comprehensive counseling department is aligned with the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) standards and principles. We aim to support the needs of diverse and global students in order to help them thrive academically, ensure socio-emotional wellbeing, college and career development. We support the whole-student through our practices so that they can develop the skills and mindsets needed to succeed in their everyday lives. We promote the 4c's, sustainable development and aim to cultivate 21st Century Skills in our learners.

College and Career Readiness

We provide opportunities at EDIA which aspire to help students maximize their highest potential through virtual and hybrid learning. Our aim is to break borders, link students to digital resources and pave paths to equitable learning for the development of skills which can foster lifetime success. Our counseling department works to ensure that all PK-12th grade students are supported academically, emotionally, and with college and career preparation.

Academic Counseling

The academic counseling program provides support to help students identify and set goals. We implement strategies and activities to support and maximize each student’s ability to learn and do well in grade level classes. We provide academic planning, grade and credit checks, 1:1 and group counseling sessions for support and intervention, student success workshops and guidance counseling assemblies on a variety of grade level topics. Academic counseling services include but is not limited to scheduling of student’s classes, ensuring transfer credit is calculated, monitoring student progress, assisting students with enrollment in AP, IGCSE preparation and dual enrollment programs as well as PSAT, and SAT support.

Socio-emotional
Wellness

We aim to help students develop the necessary skills needed to manage emotions, communicate effectively, problem solve, build confidence, as well as understand and apply strong interpersonal skills for positive character development. Counselors work hand in hand with teachers, support staff, and parents to provide student-centered support that nurtures and enables them to make healthy choices, develop positive mindsets, build smart habits for achievement of goals and improved learning outcomes.

College and Career Counseling

We provide college and career counseling to help students learn about different opportunities and options they can pursue after HS. Our college readiness activities help students gain information needed to make choices about colleges and Universities. Also, through career exploration activities we make connections between school and the world of work. We aim to help students tap into their interest, explore careers and make successful transitions after completion of studies for college, careers and beyond.

Academic Counseling Services

Just because learning happens virtually in our school, doesn’t mean that we don't help students make an academic plan for the establishment of future goals. It is the priority of EDIA to help students be at the forefront of their learning, tap into their interests and transferable skills. We work as partners with parents to help students reach for their highest potentials and families meet goals.

Pre-K and Elementary Support

We strive to help students gain confidence in themselves and develop foundational skills for learning. The goal of our counseling department is to help them maximize their potential for academic success. It provides the building blocks for each grade level similar to a child climbing steps. We monitor student learning and track progress in order to ensure that students are doing well in grade level classes and are provided with support and necessary resources. Partnership between home and school needed.

Middle School and High School Support

We understand that the middle and high school years of a student's life can be full of challenges, questions and discovery related to who they are and aspire to be. We provide whole student support to help them identify their skills, set personal and academic goals, as well as explore options for colleges and careers. Every week academic planning is available, as well as monthly student success workshops, assemblies and periodic classroom guidance counseling lessons on key topics needed for student success.

What type of documents  does EDIA provide?

Enrollment Verifications and Attendance Reports

A verification of enrollment sometimes called a certificate of enrollment is a document that serves as proof that a student is enrolled in a school. It is an official document issued by a school at a parent’s request. It is not something that the school will automatically give to students when they enroll. Families need this document as proof that their child attends a certain school and is getting the proper education. We also can provide attendance verifications or reports when requested.

Progress Reports

A progress report is a document that shows the progress a student made in their classes. A Progress Report is provided mid-semester before parent teacher conferences. We issue this document also if a student didn’t finish the grade and we couldn't finalize a grading for an official report card or transcript. It can also be provided if a family wants to see a student's learning progress, or leaves our school before finalizing grades.

Report Cards

A report card is a official document that shows the final grades that a student has made at the end of each semester. This is an official document that can be used to show a students performance in multiple or single subjects that they studied for a specific grade level. We offer report cards for all students enrolled from PK to grade 12. Middle and High School Report cards also include a students GPA.

Transcripts

The academic transcript proves that a student has successfully finalized a particular grade. It is an official school document containing information about the school and a student, what grade students attended, subjects they took, the grades they achieved, and credit points they earned. The transcript contains the school’s stamp, accreditation and signature of an administrative school officer. It can be provided upon requests. Unofficial transcripts can be emailed digitally and official transcripts are mailed.

IGCSE Program Certificate of Completion and Course Report

Students who complete our 1 year IGCSE exam preparation program will be able to get a certificate of completion along with official course report. Curriculum used will be EdExcel Pearson Exam Board approved by UK Ofqual--the Office of Examinations. British Council is a partner center with EdExcel where students are directed for taking exams.

Official U.S. High School Diploma

Students receive a U.S. high school diploma upon graduation from our online high school. To be eligible to graduate, they must complete grade 12 and acquire 22.5 credit points. A high school diploma proves that a student has successfully finalized secondary education, and therefore they can continue to higher education. Similar to transcripts, our high school diploma is interna-tionally recognized and accepted. That comes from the fact that we are a registered school with Cognia accreditation. Our diploma is equal in value to any other American school diploma.

High School Diploma

Students receive an accredited
US High School diploma upon completion of HS requirements and approval for graduation from our virtual program.

Document Attestation

An apostille certificate along side a high school diploma can be obtained for attestation.

Apostillization ensures that foreign countries recognize the original document.

Graduation Eligibility

Students must must complete grade 12 and acquire 22.5 credits. A high school diploma proves that a student has successfully finalized secondary education, and therefore they can continue to higher education. Additional requirements may be needed for the state or country a student resides.
